The naval memoirs of James II, then the Duke of York, from the years 1660 to 1673. James commanded the Royal Navy during the Second and Third Anglo-Dutch War, during which he captures forts off the African coast, which helped to facilitate English involvement in the slave trade. This memoir was compiled from James' original letters, as well as those by other authorities of the day. James II became King after the death of his older brother, Charles II, in 1685. His reign was short lived, however, as he was deposed in the 1688 Glorious Revolution. An important work, it is generally thought to be edited by Samuel Pepys. Wear to the extremities, with evidence of former wear and loss prior to rebacking. Light discolouration to the boards. A small amount of loss to the tail of the extremity of the rear board. Very speedy delivery and extremely well packaged. The book is in wonderful condition for age, better I think than described. This now sits alongside a companion volume, another work of Worcestershire historian and antiquarian, John Noak. I very much looking forward to reading it. As for price, I snatched the offer and am extremely pleased that I did. This seller is a perfect find on eBay and I would purchase from them without hesitation, saved seller, excellent.

Thank you so much, Katherine, for a truly pluperfect transaction.
