Moysie's work is a contemporary first hand account of the years covered, with his memoirs - the records of an eyewitness - surviving in manuscript form only until this mid eighteenth century publication. With a fourteen page index to the rear, as called for. ESTC reference no. N26028 With an inscription, dated 1875, to the front free endpaper. A smart full calf copy of this scarce volume, the work of a man described as 'for many years an officer of the King's Household'. CONDITION In a full calf binding, with gilt detailing to back strip. Light rubbing to board perimeters and back strip head and tail. Front and rear hinges starting, with boards holding firm. Contemporary inscription and amateur artwork to front free endpaper. Light spotting to title page. Pages otherwise clean and bright. I bought this for the copy's associations with a family I'm interested in, thanks to the suggestions about provenance in the seller's description. The description and photos told me all I needed to know about the book - clearly the right family, though I have my own view on the individual who owned it - but that is part of the fund of an old book. It arrived promptly - a couple of days' delay caused by UPS - safely packaged and a good price, I think.
