With a portrait frontispiece of Gray to volume I. Thomas Gray was an English poet, letter-writer and classical scholar. His best known work is his Elegy Written in a Country Churchyard. CONDITION In quarter calf bindings with paper covered boards. Externally, very smart with minor rubbing to the spine labels. Small amount of rubbing to the paper covered boards. Internalyl, all volumes are firmly bound. Title page to volume IV has signs of repair at bottom. Pages are slightly age toned with the odd spot throughout. Worming to the top margin of volume II for the last 50 pages, not affecting text. Worming to the bottom margins of the contents pages and to the final forty pages of volume four, not affecting text. Overall Condition: Good GLOSSARY OF TERMS Overall Condition (Dustwrapper condition rating is shown after that for the book itself, where a dustwrapper is present) Fine - Very well preserved copy showing very little wear Very Good Indeed - Only one or two minor faults, really a very attractive copy Very Good - Quite a wide term meaning no major faults but probably several smaller ones often expected given the age of the book, but still a respectable copy Good - Meaning not very good.
