Description

Memoirs of the Bloomsgrove Family. In a Series of Letters to a respectable Citizen of Philadelphia. Containing Sentiments on a Mode of Domestic Education, Suited to the present State of Society, Government, and Manners in the United States of America: and on The Dignity and Importance of the Female Character Interspersed With a Variety of interesting Anecdotes. by Enos Hitchcock In Two Volumes Boston: Thomas and Andrews, At Faust's Statue, No. 45, Newbury Street 1790 First Edition Two octavos, xii, 299 pages; viii, 300 pages, both volumes bound in period full calf. Gilt bands and lettering to spines. The spine label on the second volume is chipped. A married set, the bindings are so similar it is easy to conclude that they had the same binder. However the gilt bands are not spaced identically and the numeral on the spines are in different compartments. There is some rubbing and wear, scuffs, slight discoloration, previous owner's inscription, a few gatherings of pages shaken, small loss to the corner of the front free endpaper in the second volume, front hinge of the second volume cracked and tender, else in good + condition. Books arrived in perfect condition and why shouldn't they? A very careful and deliberate packaging like this would guarantee anything safe arrival, and shipping cost was very reasonable as well. A great value for a better-than-described item. Hope we can do business again sometime.
