Engraved for Ritchie's Memoirs of Europe for 1799. full personalized leather, 9 x 5.25”, 8vo. In fair condition. Personalized stamped embossed binding of W.W. Davidson on front board. Light wear to extremities with scuffing along edges and corners. Corners bumped slightly with desiccation present. Lightly abraded overall along the surface. Joints abraded with dryness and creasing. Spine creased with rubbing at ends. Numerous instances of old hand marginalia throughout, some in pencil and others in ink. Old hand ownership of D.J. Shaw on title and first leaf. Folding map torn with marginalia and additional notations, but intact. Text block is lightly toned with scattered instances of foxing and age staining. Spotting to all edges. Binding remains intact. The Congress of Rastadt (Nov. 1797 - April 1799) was convened to settle difficulties arising from the Treaty of Campo Formio (17 Oct. 1797) between France and the Holy Roman Empire. With much information on Congress at Rastadt, France, Russia, Austria and Naples. An important work of military history. The shipping was fast and the book was extremely well packaged. The book itself is exactly as pictured and although rare books are expected to be expensive, I was able to get a small discount that at least covered the shipping. I'm happy with my purchase, so I can say that it was a good value. I love to find old relics that kind of come full circle to find their home. Welcome home to this little gem in the form of a small book. I will take very good care of you! I highly recommend this seller.

Just picked up my package from Robin Rare Books and let me start by saying WOW!!! Book as advertised for sure. the value of the book certainly dictated some care in shipping but never did I think to this extent. The packaging was incredible. bigger box than needed at first thought but after opening based on the care and multiple layers of packing It would have survived a Tank rolling over it. Very grateful for you listing and working with me on the book, true piece of history I will cherish
