An interesting memoir of the English judge John Eardley Wilmot, who served as the Chief Justice of the Common Pleas from 1766 to 1771. He was offered the position of Lord Chancellor twice in his career, and both times turned it down. This work was written by Wilmot's son, also named John Wilmot. He was a lawyer and politician who sat in the House of Commons from 1776 to 1796. He also wrote ' A Treatise on the Laws and Customs of England', 'The Life of the Rev. John Hough, D.D', and 'An Historical Review of the Commission relative to the American Loyalists '. With a frontispiece. Collated from Copac from copies held at Cambridge and Oxford University, complete. CONDITION In a half calf binding with marbled paper to the boards. Externally, with slight rubbing to the boards and spine. Light bumping to the extremities. Front hinge is starting but firm. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean.
