Blind stamp to the title page of both volumes, 'Sold by the Authority of the Trustees of the Public Clibrary of New South Wales'. An uncommon work, which was written by the Scottish advocate, judge and historian Alexander Fraser Tytler. Henry Home, Lord Kames was a founder member of the Philosophical Society of Edinburgh and this work demonstrates Home's work, findings and philosophical thought over his lifetime. CONDITION In full calf bindings. Volume I has been entirely rebound with the original boards preserved. Repairs to the board edges. Volume II has been rebacked with the original spine and boards preserved. Externally, both volumes are generally smart. Several marks to boards. Light rubbing to the spine labels of volume II. Library shelf numbers to the front pastedown of both volumes 'B70'. Bookseller's label to the front pastedown of both volumes, 'Angus and Robertson'. Repairs/reinforcements to the hinges of both volumes. Internally, firmly bound. Pages have slight age toning to the edges. Scattered spots to pages, heavier to the plates and the first and last few pages. This now sits alongside a companion volume, another work of Worcestershire historian and antiquarian, John Noak. I very much looking forward to reading it.
