Detailing his character, a philosophical examination of his manners and policies, and a concise history of his rise to power. Including anecdotes from the memoirs of the Imperial Royal Family as well as prominent figures of the French Revolution. In four volumes, which tell of events up until 1802; this work was later added to, with five more volumes published later. The fourth edition of this work, with additions. Each volume is illustrated with a frontispiece portrait, as well as numerous portraits bound to the rear of the work: I with fourteen, II with twelve, III with ten and IV with ten. Collated, complete. A scarce work, which first appeared in 1806. CONDITION In a half calf binding. Externally a trifle worn; loss to the head of the spine of volume four, and some rubbing to the heads and tails of the spines and extremities. Internally, generally firmly bound, with hinges just a touch tender. Pages are a little spotted, particularly plates.
