Hardcovers half bound in tan leather with marbled paper covered boards. Both bindings rebacked with leather and with the worn original leather back strips laid down. Bindings are rubbed, with corners rubbed down to boards. Prior owner's bookplates on front pastedown of first volume for. Baron De Melogue (20th century?) and Albert Rowe Merrill (19th Century). A clipping affixed to the bottom of the front pastedown contains a description of the book. Endpapers are foxed in both volumes, also have some smudging. The second front flyleaf has an index of names and page numbers in pencil. The third front flyleaf has two small clippings about the book. The text in both books are toned, with foxing. Illustrated with 18 copperplate engravings, mostly portraits . "The Wrongs of Royalty" has an engraving of Brandenburg House, and "The Legislatorial Trial" has a folding engraving of "The Trial of Her Majesty Queen Caroline" . Excellent old history in perfect condition, like new. Book clean and crisp with absolutely no damage as described. Publication date 1930. Very quickly shipped. Very securely wrapped against weather and handling damage. A bit dear but you certainly get what you pay for.
