Up for sale is this rare antique 1861 volume of the Memoirs of the American Academy of the Arts and Sciences. This sale is for Part I of Volume VIII. It contains chapters on the orbits of asteroids, the light of the moon & Jupiter, the lumbar enlargement of the spinal cord, the latest form of Development Theory, the alloys of copper & zinc, etc. The spinal cord article is illustrated with 4 plates. The book is overall in very good condition with some minor signs of wear and age. The covers have some moderate scuffing and wear. The binding is good and sound. There is an old institutional bookplate adhered to the front pastedown. The title page has some underlining in pencil. The pages are lightly toned from age but are mostly clean, with just the very occasional light bit of foxing, soiling, or grubbiness. Along with that, there may be the very occasional page with some kind of other minor imperfection such as a creased page corner, tiny chip or tear, minor stain or marking, etc. Generally though, it's a nice copy. The book measures approximately 11 1/2 inches by 9 1/2 inches and is 360 pages long. Please look at all of the photos to further note the condition

Packaged well. Shipped quickly. Item was just as described. I paid $6.50 for each piece of paper to be shipped to me (ordered two). So, it was $13 to ship two pieces of paper in an envelope. That is the only thing I was disappointed in.
