The Life of Jesus Christ with a history of the Jews German Language (1866) This is a beautiful book about Jesus Christ and the Apostles in red leather binding with wonderful engravings. It includes a history of the Jews. This was published in 1866 by J.W. Bradley of Philadelphia. The cover is delicately tooled with Jesus depicted and framed by light. The cover reads, "I am the Truth & the Life" under his picture. The spine reads Leben Christi, Life of Christ. The back of the book has the same design as the front but without the gilt, blind stamped. Full page illustrations are titled in English: Presenting Christ in the Temple, Christ Blessing Little Children, Christ Stilling the Tempest, My Father Worketh Hitherto and I Work, The Miraculous Drought of Fishes, A Scene in Judea, And the Sea gave up the dead which were in it, And there was no more sea, The Vision of the White Horse, The Last Supper, The Crucifixion, The Day of Pentecost, and another engraving after Rubens. The book is in very good condition for age. The engraved leather has some wear and there is dark discoloration at the top right corner. The joints are intact. The front inner hinge is intact. The rear endpaper is split but holding. The binding is very good. All pages and plates are bound and present. The pages are in very good condition with no tears, no dog ears, and no internal handwriting. There is some foxing especially at the picture plates. The book measures 9 inches by 6 inches.
