Easton Press leather edition of Raymond Cogniat's "Braque," one of the Art series, Printed in SWITZERLAND, published in 1984. Bound in brown leather, the book has decorative paper end leave, satin book marker, gold gilt on three edges---in near FINE condition. Georges Braque, who lived from 1882-1963, was a French artist, whose family was in the house painting business. The Braque family left Argenteuil and settled in Le Havre in 1893. Braque arrived in PARIS in 1900. In 1903, he briefly attended the Ecole de Beaux Arts. In 1906 he sent six paintings to the Salon des Independents and became acquainted with Matisse, Vlaminck, Apollinaire, and Picasso. In 1913, Braque married Marcelle Lapre. Later he was highly influenced by Cezanne. In 1914, he was called up to fight in WW I. In the 1930s he exhibited in Basel, London, Brussel and in 1939-40, he exhibited in Washington, Chicago, and San Francisco. In 1952, he decorated the ceiling of the Musee du Louvre. 96 pages.
