Bound in a brown leather, the book has decorative paper end leaves, satin book marker, acid-free paper, Symth-sewn binding, hubbed spine, gold gilding on three edges--in near FINE condition. Joyce Carol Oates, who was born in 1938, is an American writer who has published over 40 novels, as well as a number of plays and novellas. She has won many awards for her writing, including the NATIONAL BOOK AWARD, two O. HENRY Awards, and the NATIONAL HUMANITIES MEDAL. Oates has taught at Princeton University s ince 1978 and is currently the Roger S. Berlind Professor Emerita in Creative Writing. "Marya: A Life" is an autobiographical novel which is set in Syracuse, New York, where Oates went to college. In a "Special Message to Subscribers," Oates wrote: "Many of Marya's thought and impressions parallel my own at her approximate age but the circumstances that provoke them have been altered, as have most of the characters. Of all my novels, Marya is the only one I could not approach head-on. I had to write it in self-contained sections, each dealing with a specific phase of Marya's life, and after finishing each of these sections I was determined not to write another---the tension was too great." Seller earns high marks for very safe wrapping, quick delivery and right price. Book is in excellent condition. To no fault of seller, and unusual deviation of normal high standards of the publisher, I would not recommend this book to others. It has has very disappointing photography that distracts from art of Rodin. But I highly recommend the seller.

Quite the surprised, at first I thought I ordered something from a pet shop because of the box turns out to be my order xD.
