Frank Tieri and Inaki Miranda reunite to explore the conspiracy that led to Sir Francis Drake hiding his treasure on Monster Island! Who are the Sons of Giants, and what is their mission? More importantly, what is their connection to Godzilla and the other monsters? This series shows us how it all came to be, how Godzilla was discovered by the leaders of the world, and how it changed history forever! Hiding in the shadows of history, there is an Illuminati- esque cult that has been pulling the strings of every major kaiju encounter. Their identities will be finally revealed… Story/Spoilers: In issue #1B, After Godzilla destroyed his village, killing his master and everyone that he ever knew, the samurai Hideki sought revenge against the monster. He journeyed to find a sword maker who could forge for him a blade made from a meteorite. Tracking the kaiju down, Hideki managed to draw blood from his foot using the sword. His honor restored, he allowed Godzilla to incinerate him, but the sword survived. The person relating this tale, a member of the secret society known as the Sons of Giants, unveils the sword from the story to an audience of other members. Each wears a mask modeled on a kaiju, with the speaker wearing a Godzilla mask. They voice their hope that the kaiju they revere will assist them in their present crisis. On July 11, 1804, U.S. Vice President Aaron Burr kills former Secretary of the Treasury Alexander Hamilton in a duel, with Hamilton discharging his pistol into the sky before Burr fires at him. Later, Burr is approached by a man in a restaurant, who he correctly guesses is a reporter. He tells him that he refuses to discuss the duel, outside of saying that he is distraught over the outcome, that the duel was legal, and that it was fought because Hamilton insulted his character. The reporter, Mortimer Lane of the Philadelphia Aurora, instead tells him that he believes the duel was waged over a centuries-old coin found on Hamilton's body. Mortimer shows Burr the coin, which bears the image of Godzilla; the Vice President claims to have no idea what it is. Mortimer elaborates that it came from a secret society formed in Ancient Rome. The unstoppable monster it depicts, Godzilla, attacked Rome at the height of its power. Mortimer observes that Burr seems unfazed by his fantastical story. Burr responds that their conversation would be best continued in private. As they exit the restaurant, men working with Burr pull a hood over Mortimer's head and throw him into a waiting carriage. Burr asks them to leave him unharmed, as "the others" need to question him and determine his fate. Next in issue #2B, In ancient Denmark, a meteor containing Hedorah lands near the mead-hall Heorot. The Danes who travel to investigate the meteor find the alien kaiju, who they call Grendel, to be immune to arrows, while its touch is lethal. As the monster terrorizes the country, King Hrothgar puts out a call for help that is answered by the legendary hero Beowulf. Hedorah slaughters Beowulf's men, growing in size at it does so, while the hero attacks it from behind, severing an arm. To his horror, the monster swiftly regrows the arm and kills him. The figure wearing a Godzilla mask concludes by stating that this is the true version of the famous Beowulf tale. The abducted Mortimer Lane stands before the figure and numerous other masked Sons of Giants, feigning ignorance as to why he has been brought to them. The masked man sees through him, and Lane admits that he has been able to learn little about the Sons in his years of investigation, other than their ruthlessness in concealing the secrets of the kaiju. He asks the Sons to hurry up and kill him. Instead, the masked man flips the Godzilla coin to him and confronts Lane with its true origin: the pirate Henry Hull, Lane's ancestor. Lane comes clean, briefly recounting Hull's encounters with kaiju while hunting for treasure with Sir Francis Drake and his execution by a member of the Sons. He reveals his suspicions that Vice President Aaron Burr killed Alexander Hamilton for the same reason. The masked man confirms this, saying that while Hamilton was a longtime member of the Sons, he was prepared to go public and had to be stopped, especially with history about to repeat itself. The force that drew Godzilla to Rome, he expounds, also called Hedorah , and the two kaiju resumed their old rivalry. Godzilla blasted Hedorah with atomic breath, then burned his hand as he grabbed the monster. Mothra and Rodan soon arrived in the city as well, making for the largest gathering of kaiju in centuries. The threat that brought them together has only increased in strength, he concludes. He removes his mask to reveal President Thomas Jefferson, shocking Lane. This meeting of the Sons has been taking place in the White House. Next in issue #3B, For the first time, the biblical origins of one of Godzilla’s greatest allies will be revealed - MOTHRA. A mysterious kaiju who appears in times of need - now revealed to have once laid siege to Egypt in the real story behind the eighth biblical plague. Then, in 1804, watch as the Sons of Giants begin to unravel… And finally, what brought all of the kaiju to Rome hundreds of years ago? This sequel to the hit miniseries digs deeper into Godzilla lore, unveiling the secret history of the world long hidden - until now! Next in issue #4B, In issues past, we’ve learned of the ancient kaiju cult and met some of its more famous members. But now it’s time to finally reveal the reason they have reconvened. What threat is so fearsome, so earth-shattering, that it’s not only brought together the most powerful men in the world but the most powerful monsters? Also, in this issue, an ancient Mesoamerican myth is discovered, detailing a clash between Rodan and Spanish conquistadors attempting to conquer the Aztecs. Finally, in issue #5B, Theres a reason Godzilla, Rodan, Mothra, and Hedorah gathered in ancient Rome… Theres a reason the Sons of Giants have convened … Theres a reason Lewis and Clark were sent on their expedition in the first place…and it all comes down to KING GHIDORAH. Well, King Ghidorah and one final dark, terrible secret… Witness the ancient origins of King Ghidorah, harkening back to Rome and a battle with Hercules, in the explosive finale of Sons of Giants!
