First American Edition. 12mo; full contemporary calf, gilt-ruled spine; viii,[13]-154,[2]pp. (collated complete despite error in pagination, with final leaf of publisher's ads bound in rear). Leather scuffed at margins, front joint starting to crack, spine gilt dulled, endpapers rather ragged and significantly filled with the ownership notes of a William Hirst, who purchased the book on November 19th, 1815. Overall a Good to Very Good copy. Scathing evaluation of the Prophet Mohammad first published in London in 1799. This copy, though free of markings in the text, has contemporary owner William Hirst's opinion recorded on the front flyleaf: "Some very Remarkable things contained in this Book...but many foolish things contained As is in my judgment tho upon the whole worth a reading.
