Description
This Book Is In French. This rare and culturally important antiquarian book is "new edition" published in 1815 in London by Chez Colburn, Libraire, Conduit-Street, Hanover-Square. New edition probably means a 2nd edition of sorts. It is bound in leather with decorative tooling and gilding on the edges and spine. End papers are marbleized. The edge of the front cover along the spine is cracked and leather on the spine has some flaking. The boards have been reattached--presume that they will easily come off again. A previous owners signature is at the top of the title page. See pictures. From title page: Secret memoirs of Napoleon Buonaparte, with a historical summary of the character of this famous personage, according to what he said and what he did. All taken from the memoirs of a man who has not left her for fifteen years. The history of the regency at Blois, and of Buonaparte's itinerary, until his arrival at the island of Elba.
