Offered here is a vintage antique biographical history book: Pictorial Life Of Andrew Jackson by John Frost, Belknap and Hamersley, Hartford, 1847, Full calf leather elaborately blindstamped decorated front & back covers, raised bands on spine with gilt lettering on the second area between bands. Frnt outside hinge is beginning - top front hing has some leather loss, corners are rubbed and there is some minor leather loss, Spine heel has some - but not all - loss to the covering leather as wellMarbled endpapers. Steel-engraved frontipiece protected with a tissue-guard. Illustrated half title-page. Frontis and title page oxidized from the protective tissue paper, focing/oxidation randomly through out the book, no overpowering. MULTIPLE engravings - all present, a couple of sections of pages seem out of place BUT the top protruding edges are dust discolored on the face so they have been that way for many, many years. This is a rare, 19th-century account of the American president's life. However, this work focuses heavily on his military career – his involvement in the War of 1812, the Creek War, the Battle of New Orleans, and the Seminole Wars. It is complete with 50 impressive engravings by William Croome, depicting various views of Native American Indians, military scenes, and more! Approximately 9 1/2" X 6 1/4" X 1 5/8".
