This edition is limited to 750 copies of which this delux issue is limited to 75 copies, numbered and signed by Gavin Fry, who wrote the commentary. Hand bound in full dark tan calf and presented in a custom-made solander case witha removal red ribbon in situ. Dedicated, with permission to Her Royal Highness, Diana The Princess of Wales on the launching of the Australian Maritime Museum's Historical Facsimile Series, as the original edition had been dedicated to Caroline, Princess of Wales in 1795. Illustrated: with a b/w frontispiece, an aquatint by Robert Dodd and facsimile reproduction of the text. Condition: Crisp calf leather-bound hardcover with impressed gilt title to spine and a compass blindstamped to the front cover, STRAIGHT, TIGHT & CLEAN in LIKE NEW CONDITION with limited edition inscription, in a custom made solander case in VERY GOOD CONDITION with very minor sunfade, removal ribbon in situ. Printed on Ivory Kilmory Text. POSTAGE: Postage is free within Australia and includes Australia Post tracking and insurance. Orders are posted within 1 business day. Mary Ann Parker completed the fifteen month return voyage to New South Wales with her husband, Captain John Parker, of the frigate HMS Gorgon , in 1791-2. She had previously travelled with her parents, in Europe, in 1775-82. Living in Spain and Italy, and travelling home through France. Three years after the landing of the First Fleet at Sydney Cove, Mary Ann Parker became Australia's first tourist. Her description of Port Jackson is the first published description by a woman of an Australian colony. Mary Ann Parker made the voyage for her own interest and her husband's company. Her account provides important insight into the life and interests of a woman undertaking what was then the longest and most dangerous voyage on earth. Very Scarce, one of 75 issued.
